    How long must this continue?

It seemed like eons since Iota first disassociated herself from ... well, her former self. Taking an oath to cast her murderous tendencies aside, she wished to better herself in all ways, from thoughts to actions. She found herself picking up habit after habit to keep her mind distracted from her former self, her true self.
She called it Oni. It was a cold, heartless monster that lurked every corridor of her mind, prowling and pacing around her head, waiting to revert Iota back to what she was: a savage. Its sinister grin haunted her on a daily basis, and began showing up in her nightmares at night, snarling and ensuring its sharp fangs were clearly visible in her line of sight at all times. It was something Iota could never -- and will never -- be able to escape... they share the same snarl. In fact, they shared the same everything, down to their voice. The only difference being that Oni looked as though it was a part of her shadows, ready to pounce on her very being as if its just another target for it to slaughter. Its eyes glowed red, its sharp gaze piercing every thought that arose in her mind, attempting to take it over as its own. It was truly a parasite of her own, and it was one she would never be able to rid herself of.

    How long?

Iota slept again tonight, having fallen in slumber under the moonlight again in her greenhouse, after spending countless hours taking care of her plants again. It began to become a pattern, one that didn't seem too healthy to keep up.

Sitting next to her was a book on telepathy. It had been catching dust in the old bookshelves of the conservatory's storage, and it was quite the odd place for a book of such a caliber. She'd began to read on the arcane, and how psychics could project illusions with their minds in order to trick whoever gazed upon them. Of course, Iota didn't think that she owned these powers herself, but the thought of it... interested her.

Something shook her awake; it felt cold, like the body of an apparition had grazed her body and chilled her to the touch.

    Beck...?

No, it couldn't have been. Beck had better things to do than to haunt his own clanmates at night -- after all, he had Audrey to take care of now. Perhaps it may have been Morgan? He could have been performing some sort of ice power nearby -- a bit late for honing powers, but practice makes perfect, she thought.

    think again, dumbass.

She'd finally noticed it, the moonlight having been blocked by her pelt, a dull pink against the somber evening ambience. Its eyes began to glow a sharp red, not too different from the incarnation in her nightmares, and slowly rose from the ground, keeping its gaze fixed on the horned she-cat's own emerald eyes. Its grin was quite different from her own this time, however -- it seemed to stretch all across its face, revealing more of its fangs than had been previously revealed to Iota. The glass walls of the greenhouse nearly shattered with a large thud as Iota backed herself into a corner, cowering from the large shadowy figure that seemed to engulf the entirety of the conservatory. Her breathing began to intensify, her head beginning to spin as her nightmares had finally become a reality.

    it's you.
