the time of day was not important. the brute was grooming when he decided to go claw up a tree to sharpen his nails. mistake number one that day. the male moved along with calm ease until he was alone. the tree littered with marks from his past visits.

the brute rears up and sinks his claws in. claws raking until pain and a snapping sound. ripping his feet away he spotted his nail in the tree, or well, part of his nail. looking down sharply, he let out a snarl. annoyance in his eyes as he looked at the broken claw. just lovely.

The hellhound could not help but sometimes hover around the vampiric lion. Sakura would never admit it, but the other was genuinely interesting and looked rather nice. So, they were nearby when they heard Night snarl. Walking over, they stopped a few feet from the lion. "What happened, Dark Night?" A smirk lifted at the nickname.

the brute looked up as a voice he knew reached his ears. head turning as the nickname brought a smirk to his maw. the hellhound was a joy to be around. they seemed to be down to earth and rather chill. lowering his paw to the ground, he offered a frown before shaking his mane a bit.

i broke my nail. cause my looks could use that hit. he sounded honestly bitter before shaking his head slightly. eyes on his paw once more as he flexed his claws. the one broken claw standing out clearly. i suppose it will grow back one day.

An amused grin was plastered on Sakura's face at his bitterness. They raised a paw and tapped on the wood with their gold-capped claws. "I'm sure it'll grow back soon. Claws breaking is natural. Keeps them short." They sat down, flexing their claws. "Granted, I haven't broken a claw in months thanks to these."

"I do trim mine though." Sakura finished, lowering their paw. "Don't worry about your looks, Night. No one looks even half as fascinating as you."

as they lifted a paw and spoke, he hung onto her words. the gold capped claws were lovely and he found himself wanting some. not that he would admit that. i hope it does. i try to keep them sharp and long. it helps.
