The moon shone brightly above, reflecting itself against the constant motioning of the ocean tide, beckoning its visitors to grace its presence by submerging themselves inside its rushing embrace. The restless water crashed against the nearby shore, granting the beaches its thunderous roar of white noise. Stars dotted the skies above, their light striking the earth from billions of miles away as they breathed their last breath some hundreds of years ago.
Alpha tread the long railroad path lonesomely, quietly, his eyes not breaking contact with the shallow bed beneath him, cream paws dipping into-and-out-of the lukewarm pool beneath him as he made his way towards whatever path it would lead him towards. It's not like he had much choice, anyway. He had nowhere to go at this point, so being constantly on the move was his only option so as to not be attacked -- or be forced to attack any adversary around him. He wanted to keep a low profile after destroying what remained of the VIRM laboratory.
Betrayal. That was the only thing that clouded his mind. Why did VIRM treat him like worthless scum after everything they did for him? They threw him out to die -- literally -- and forgot about him. To Alpha, that was unforgivable, of course -- why else would he have destroyed the facility singlehandedly? He could feel the gaze of the other Nines watching him from wherever their souls remained: Beta. Delta. Gamma. He could still feel their presence as if he were still in his holding cell, trading jokes and sparring at each given opportunity.
He smiled smugly, and spoke under his breath. "Heh. How disgusting."
The thought of him "caring" about the other Nines sickened him. The only one who had any sort of raw emotions was Nine Iota -- what scum she was. Somehow, in some way, Alpha felt as if VIRM's betrayal towards him was linked to his former inmate. She'll pay, too, in due time.
His paws continued dipping into the water as he approached the gate, quite confused as to what he landed upon. A gate...? But for what? Tasting the air, he caught the scent of several... others nearby. Stay sharp, 9A. If they're hostile towards you, you're toast. He approached the gate as silently as he had traveled the path, crossing the threshold into the new territory.
