BURN
BRIGHT
BRIGHT
The lion, wreathed in green-tinted fire, lorded over her partner from the high perch. A fanged smirk flashed across her face, and Ninazu lifted her head. She lifted a paw, holding a coconut with two halves glued together. “Then you’ll need to be a good boy and play along,” she teased. “Only one in every five of these coconuts is filled with candy. The others… sand, rotting flesh, squirming maggots… there’s plenty of those to go around.”
Her flames danced over her skin. They turned green, illuminating her hut in a sickly glow, and she hurled the one in her hand at Stryker. Two more rose from her side, launching through the air—obviously empty of any prize, but controlled by Ninazu’s ability to control the rocks and sands within the coconuts. The two crested in the air like heat-seeking missiles, seeking Stryker’s head with precision.
The one she hurled herself sank through the air, landing innocently at the bottom of the palm tree. One eyebrow twitched when she looked down at it, and she rolled her eyes. It was so much harder to control these things when there wasn’t anything inside she could use to propel them farther. Oh well; if anyone wanted a challenge for a big reward, they’d find the motivation.
