THERE’S VACANCY IN EVERY NIGHTMARE
Rosemary walked Lawkit to the temple, toeing the line between slowly but surely and rushing to the pain relief he needed. She stepped over the entryway, paused, and gently guided him over the step. In the cool shade of the necro mamba’s temple, she released a small breath.
She guided him to one of the small tables in the temple. “Wait here, please. I need to fetch it.”
She stepped inside the storage room, which contained rows upon rows of stored herbs. The windowless room rarely saw light, except when someone needed to take an ingredient, and Rosemary inhaled the rich scent of dried flowers and earthy soil. Humming to herself, the ocelot telekinetically pulled out a small amount of cannabis. After she took it back into the main room, she placed it in a tea bag and used her water manipulation ability to bring the water to a boil.
“The tea will be ready soon, Lawkit. I’m going to give you a tea made from cannabis—weed—but there won’t be any psychoactive effects.” She hesitated, realizing he probably had no idea what she meant. “What I mean is, you’ll only feel a sense of relaxation and pain relief. Please don’t try to use this plant yourself, as it can have… more interesting side effects, depending on how you use it.”
The kettle hissed—not screamed—and Rosemary waved her paw. Pouring him a cup, she placed it in front of him.
