He watched the young girl drop onto a crouch and was awaiting the awaiting words that if he was a born bastard, he would have said and said much worse.  His niece did not deserve that of him, even though he had worse saved especially for the man who made him ache anew, every single time, he got himself killed. " I am not going to yell at you, Mon Cheri, I am not cruel, and you don't deserve it. You didn't know. You assumed it was a normal trip, no? I assumed it has well."  Rene whispered softly brushing his muzzle against her pelt, and gently petted her with a paw.  " I brought your favorite, blueberry muffins, with sugar encrusted on them." he added with some kind of reassurance to get the girl to look up at him again.
