I was really happy to have Carolina back, but at the same time I was a little confused. I didn't know if my brain was fucking with me yet again, or that was just how things worked. People usually didn't come back to life on a whim, it was usually due to some odd circumstances. Like a virus. And those cases were always Just Bad. You never wanted to encounter those. Just... trust me.
I was abnormally cautious lately, especially with all the new Freelancers and the attacks. And all these... new faces. There was a flood of them. No pun intended. I wasn't one to really trust others right off the bat, but there was that occasion. Those odd, rare occasions where my gut told me I could trust someone, and if there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that your gut is almost always correct.
I padded over to where the black serval sat, making sure I didn't startle her as I sat down. I hadn't talked too much with her, but she seemed very reasonable and someone I could get along with. Maybe I could help the Freelancers. Wash did call her 'Boss', after all. Did that mean that she technically led them, or was it some kind of respect gesture? I didn't know.
"Carolina..." It was almost a whisper, as I lifted my head to look up at her. I was concerned about her. She and Washington didn't seem all too well mentally. Like they could use someone to talk to.
"You okay? You... look like you could use a shoulder to lean on. If you know what I mean." I offered, voice soft and non-hostile, full of sincerity. I hoped she wouldn't shut me down immediately and not talk to me. Sometimes, we all needed to vent. And today, I was in a good enough frame of mind to listen and help.
