The only reason why Ninazu went through with Zuri’s request was because the child had, after all, given her a lovely shell necklace. It’d worked well for her meditations. If she focused on the cost of mild irritation for the serenity the gift brought her multiple times a day, then maybe she could get through this without burning every herb here to a crisp.
She sighed and glanced to her right to the sundial in the village square. At least her procrastination on fulfilling the request meant she didn’t have to worry about Romulus promoting her to guru. She’d spent too much of her life wiping snot and vomit off various surfaces. No way she’d go back to that position; this healing lesson was simply a favor, as she’d promised, as trade for the necklace.
