BLOOD TO GO AROUND / open, weekly tasks 7/8

malphas had finally recovered enough from his little panic attack to make an appearance. he had signed up to deliver the tasks - why, he wondered? he was just delaying the inevitable anxiety attack. as he stood up there, he trembled, his nervousness apparent. fuck it. he was gonna die one day, he might as well do some fucking weekly tasks.

"hey, tanglers," he announced loudly. "yours truly is doin the weekly tasks. come get one!"

Bell didn't know who this was, or why they were yelling at him to get a task. He knew he should probably get a grasp of what was happening though. The boy trotted up on bruised limbs, coming to a stop in front of the trembling Malphas. It made him feel a little better about his own weakness, but he wouldn't say that aloud. Bell wasn't too good at predicting how others would respond to the stuff he said, but something told him that Malphas wouldn't take too kindly to his nervousness being mentioned. "What's a, uh, weekly task?" Bell asked instead, his gentle voice blending in to the background noise. Hopefully the other had heard him, because Bell would only repeat himself or speak up when hell froze over.

Kauko's ears perked upon hearing the call, head raising to face the voice's owner. His golden gaze widened a fraction in recognition upon spotting the caller. 'Ah, that's...' His head tilted, absentmindedly chewing on his Starburst. Truthfully, Kauko never caught his name, so he didn't know what to call him. Without a thinking, he turned around to trot towards the feline. He didn't know what a 'weekly task' was, but hell. He might as well grab one and wing it. As he approached, he took notice of the other individual who had already arrived, too late to hear his question. He didn't seem familiar, so Kauko just greeted him with a wave of his fluffy tail then turned back to the tom. "Gimme one, blood dude," he drawled, voice muffled by the Starburst in his mouth. He first saw the male with blood around his mouth, so 'blood dude' seemed like a fitting name.

”It’s something we do every week.” Vigenere explained to Bell as he made his way over. ”Basically whoever is hosting this gives ya a task for the week. If you do it, you’re free to come back for another if you want one.” He went on before looking over at Malphas. ”I’ll take one.”

The puma cub slipped over, her barely-pink fur a stark contrast compared to the rest of the members. Evidently, Hati would grow up to adore pastel goth; but that was a possible probability to explore at a later date. Looking up at Malphas, unaware of his utter uselessness at the time of her most traumatizing memory, she flicked her tail as she waited to get a task.

fuck. people.

"a weekly task is like.. a thing you do. vigenere is smarter than me and said it better. ok, bell... you're a pretty little thing, why don't you beautify the town or some shit. plant some flowers. go hogwild," he grinned. this was easier than he thought. "kauko, uh... go see if you can catch anything in the swamp. i'll give you a beer if you do," now these were less of 'do things for the benefit of the clan' tasks but more 'do things because malphas thought saying them was amusing' type of tasks. "vigenere, you're pretty social... throw a party but make sure there's booze cause i won't come if there isn't any."

turning his head to hati, and suddenly he was overwhelmed with a burning fear. memories of the sight of her nearly-destroyed body rushed back to him and he opened his mouth but no words came out. "hati..." he trailed off, clearly distraught. he had to pull himself together. "hati, can you..." one more try. "hati, can you find a game for everybody to play? bonding and shit." he fake-grinned, and avoided eye contract with her.
